 | Jean M. Buchanan, 76, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer and Parkinson's Disease. She was born on February 11, 1948 in Appleton, Wisconsin to M.A. "Buck" Buchanan and Catherine (Ebben) Buchanan.
Jean graduated from Appleton High School in 1966 and attended Lawrence University with studies in Anthropology and Foreign Language. She taught ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray in Oshkosh. In her later years, she was a caregiver for her mother.
From an early age, Jean loved animals. Over the years, she rescued several cats whom she loved: Kitty, Tiger, Spots, Snowflake, Bubba, Clem, Muffin and Puffin who were brother and sister born in the rafters of the garage. Additionally, Jean rescued a young sparrow named Nelly.
Jean enjoyed opera, rummage sales, fabric stores and reading. She was a kind soul with a good heart. She was thoughtful and a great listener.
She will be greatly missed by her brother, Bill Buchanan. She is preceded in death my her parents.
A visitation of Jean will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 9:30 am until time of funeral service at 10:30 am at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St. in Appleton. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean's memory to the Fox Valley Humane Association and the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation. |
