Age 77. Died Friday afternoon of a heart attack. He was born Oct. 9, 1903, in Little Chute. He married Agnes Sommers July 6, 1932, at St. Patrick Church in Askeaton. He worked as a master electrician from the Manitowoc Shipyard during World War II. From 1941-1960 he resided in the Shawano-Cecil area. From 1962-1972 he was employed by Central Metallic and Mastercraft Companies. He was the owner and operator of R.J. Van Electric company in Shawano and Green Bay. He was the general manager of the Lappin Electric Co. of Green Bay. Survivors include his wife, Agnes; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barbara, Green Bay; a son, Jerry, Peshtigo; four daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Virgil Bodde, Townsend, Mrs. Carol Schubart, Neenah, Mary and Walter Chapman, Marshfield, and Margaret and Robert Soffian, Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Bill, Green Bay, and Ted, Oneida. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norbert; a sister, Anne; a grandchild and his first wife, the former Clara Pennings. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Green Bay. Burial will be in Allouez Cemetery. Friends may call at the Blaney Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today and also at Nativity Church from 10-11 a.m. Monday. A memorial fund has been established.
