- Eggert, Clara Cornelia

Age 83, took off her shoes and walked away to her heavenly home. She died with her family at her side at Appleton Medical Center on Wednesday, March 6, 2002. Clara was born April 26, 1918 in the Little Chute area to the late Cornelius and Elizabeth (Servais) Hammen. She married Herbert C. Eggert in June of 1938 he preceded her in death on February 6, 1988. Clara loved time spent with her family, sharing stories of her childhood, folklore health remedies and weather forecasting. She loved being with people, especially her grandchildren. In earlier years she would make candy, bake donuts and made wonderful Friday night fish lunches with homemade french fries and tartar sauce that were loved by her family and friends. She also made lovely quilts that kept us all warm. In later years, she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with friends at Villa St. Claire.
Survivors include her children: William (Karen) Eggert, Winneconne Robert C. (Mary Ellen) Eggert, Appleton Bette L. (Chuck) Kunitz, Cecil Steven J. (Myra) Eggert, Tampa, Florida Mark F. (Carol) Eggert, Appleton Marie A. Schwarm, Appleton Ellen J. (Gary) Fiebelkorn, Appleton Amiee S. (Richard) Zirpel, Appleton her 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, her sister, Harriet (Donald) Steger, Appleton her brother, John (Shirley) Jansen, Appleton. Clara was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2002 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida Street, Appleton with Rev. Nathan Gauerke officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and directly at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the Salvation Army.

Mom had an enlarged heart but said it had to be that way to make room for the love she had for her family. She said, "Do everything with love and you will find happiness." Mom, you will be sorrowfully missed by your family and friends.
