    • Gary David Meeuwsen passed into eternal life with his wife by his side on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, after a 4-year battle with cancer. He was born in De Pere, to the late Norbert and Verona (Smits) Meeuwsen on Sept. 16, 1940. He graduated from East De Pere High School and spent most of his life as a semi-trailer salesman, most recently for Ridgeway Trailer Sales. On Nov. 27, 1969, he married Linda Ambach and they enjoyed 40 wonderful years together.

Gary loved people, cooking on the Weber, his many road trips with his LaLe and just hanging out on the deck with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Linda; his daughter, Melissa and special family friend, Denise Roseland; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Ambach; two brothers, Paul (Alice) Meeuwsen, De Pere; and John Meeuwsen, Appleton; two sisters, Karen (Ron) Halper, Illinois; and Dianne (Tom) Brooker, Indiana; two brothers-in-law, Jeff (Jane) Ambach, Delavan and Gary (Julie) Ambach, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Carol Jones; many special nieces and nephews; and his 4-legged girls, Sue Ann and Sadie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Austin Ambach; one brother, Nick; his sister, Margaret; and his best friend, Jim Fox.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 2071 9th Street, where the funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Swanson officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.

The family wishes to express many thanks to those who called, sent cards and were supportive to Gary during his long illness. Also a special thank you to Pastor Keith Swanson for his many visits and friendship, Scot Berkovitz, Lisa and Carrie, Ridgeway Trailers, The Fox family, Sue Engberg, Jerry Cornelius, Tom Casper, Dr. Nancy Davis and the staffs of The Lombardi Cancer Center and Unity Hospice for the outstanding care they gave to Gary.
