- Marvin R. Van Asten, Kaukauna, age 67, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. He was born August 4, 1944 in the Town of Freedom, son of Raymond and Dorothy (Koehler) Van Asten. Marvin was an U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and was presently living at the cabin on Lake Tomahawk. Marvin was a very easy going man who had a positive effect on all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons: Brian Van Asten, Kaukauna and Raymond (Vicki) Van Asten, Appleton; three grandchildren: Natalie, Katelyn, and Elizabeth; his mother, Dorothy Van Asten, Little Chute; a brother, Michael Van Asten, and a sister, Donna (Heilman) Eberly. He is further survived by four nephews: Brian, Vaughn, Dan, and Bob; a niece, Joanne; and other relative and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Merlin, and a brother-in-law, Jim Heilman.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a. m on Monday, June 18, 2012 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Rites will be held following the service by VFW Post #3319.
