 | Kenneth H. Forsythe | September 10, 1943 — November 14, 2024
Kenn Forsythe, age 81 of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly in his home on November 14, 2024. He was welcomed into the family of Henry and Edith Forsythe, along with his three sisters Joan, Barb. and Carolyn in 1943. As a child, his favorite past time was swimming. At an early age, he also developed a love of math, to which he devoted his entire career teaching.
After graduating from Neenah High School, he earned two bachelor's degrees in Math and Science from UW-Oshkosh. It was there he met his wife Rosie, his wife and life-long partner of 58 years. He furthered his education with an MBA from UW-Milwaukee and a Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science from Case Western Reserve University.
His teaching career began in Menomonie, Wisconsin, followed by Lakeland, Ohio, UW-Eau Claire, UM-St. Cloud, Minnesota and retiring from the Appleton campus of UW-Oshkosh. In his spare time, he and Rosie dabbled in construction of new homes and the remodeling of old ones for rental and/or resale.
Upon retirement, he and Rosie enjoyed traveling to numerous destinations around the globe. Cruises were his favorite, as you only need to unpack once. He volunteered at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and the Hearthstone Museum. He was also active in the Civic League, and the Menasha and Appleton Senior Centers. He was a Packer fan through and through - hardly ever missed a game. He and Rosie competed to see who could get the answers first on "Jeopardy" and 'Wheel of Fortune". Not a day went by without doing at least one crossword puzzle and sudoku. Most of all, Kenn's greatest lifelong passion was dancing - square, round, ballroom, and line. He even dabbled in tap when he was younger.
Although he did not have Alzheimer's, Kenn believed strongly that more research needs to be done; so much so that he participated in the brain donor program at the Alzheimer's Research Foundation at UW-Madison for the last twelve years. Hopefully, they will learn something from his brain donation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barb. He is survived by his wife Rosie, daughter Tammy, son Todd, grandchildren Allison, Abigail, and Jacob, great-grandson Nobel, as well as sisters Joan and Carolyn.
Kenn will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and numerous friends. In keeping with his wishes, Kenn will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
