Grootemont, John F. John F. Grootemont, age 51, of Combined Locks, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at home. John was born May 21, 1954, to the late John and Marcy (Coppens) Grootemont in Appleton. He married the former Christi Brehmer on October 1, 1982, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion. John graduated from Xavier High School in 1973, was employed at Thilmany Paper and Pulp for 25 years and a lifelong resident of the Fox Cities.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy and a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 12079. John enjoyed hunting and helping others as a Certified First Responder and as a bingo caller. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Christi Grootemont; his two daughters, Theresa and Sarah Grootemont at home; four sisters: Jean (Gary) Vivoda of Appleton; Patricia (Tom) Witthuhn of Bowling Green, KY; Ann (Tom) Liebzeit of Greenville; and Judy Grootemont of Appleton. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Erlene Brehmer of Kaukauna; a sister-in-law, Debra Schultz of Neenah; fourteen nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; baby brothers, John, James, Michael and John; and his father-in-law, LeRoy Brehmer.
John's Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Holy Spirit Parish at HOLY ANGELS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Darboy with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Friday, April 21st at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service scheduled at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 766-2099.
The family would like to thank Rachael, John's dedicated Hospice Nurse, the staff of Affinity Hospice, his fellow Knights of Columbus Council 12079, his co-workers from Thilmany and friends from Holy Spirit Parish and Trinity Lutheran Church.
