Stilp, Dr. William W. "Bill"
Dr. William W. "Bill" Stilp, 85, Appleton, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Saint Camillus Nursing Home in Wauwatosa, after a short illness. Bill was born in Menasha, on May 28, 1924, to the late Aloysius "Al" and Agnes (Hoffman) Stilp.
Bill proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He attended Marquette University School of Dentistry, graduating with the Class of 1947. On Aug. 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Margery Sinsky in Racine, Wis. Bill practiced as a dentist for over 40 years.
He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was a very active volunteer and Board Member with the St. Joseph Food Pantry.
Dr. Stilp is survived by his wife, Margery, Appleton; daughter, Susan (Jeffery) Becherer, Wauwa-tosa; son, John (Carol) Stilp, Wausau; son, Thomas (Marguerite Gallagher) Stilp, Brookfield; son, Paul (Lori Timan) Stilp, Alexandria, Va.; and daughter, Kathryn (Christopher) Zale, Indianapolis, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sarah Stilp; and three sisters, Marge Vanden Huevel, Madge Stilp and Frances Stilp.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with the Rev. Larry Abler officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Menasha.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph Food Pantry and Marquette University School of Dentistry.
