- Susan H. "Ma" Hayes, Neenah, 54, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born February 15, 1952, daughter of the late Francis and Esther (Wiegart) Van De hey. Susan graduated from Menasha High School class of 1970. She was united in marriage to William Hayes on March 27, 1971, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha. She lived in Neenah where she enjoyed being a homemaker and providing daycare for her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her hobbies included crafts, gardening and she was an avid Packer fan.
Susan is survived by, her husband, William Austin Hayes; her son, William Edward Hayes; her daughter, Tammy Sue Genett and fiance Jeff Thurk; five grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary and Ava Hayes, Austin Genett and Alec Thurk; six brothers and sisters, Dan (Barb) Van De Hey, Joan (Don) Remmel, both of Florida; Bob Van De Hey, California; Marvin (Bonnie) Van De Hey, Wild Rose; Julie (Archie) Polar, Menasha; Carol Klassen, Neenah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Joan Hayes, Richard and Anna Hayes, Ronnie and Ann Hayes, Dan and Rose Hayes, all of Neenah; Lester and Carol Greuel, Black Creek; Sally and Tom Liebhauser, Menasha; Susan and David Strassman, Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to thank Dr. Goggins and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital and also Affinity Hospice Nursing staff, especially Kristin.
