- Patrick Michael West passed away on Feb. 26, 2010, of a brain tumor. He was 52.
Pat was born on Jan. 23, 1958, in Appleton, Wis., to Robert A. and Elizabeth Bartlein West. He was the youngest of four boys. In 1966, his family moved to Portland, Ore., and then Seattle, where he graduated from Glacier High School in 1976. In 1981, he graduated from Central Washington University. After graduation, Pat moved to Montana, where in 1982 he began his 28-year career in the propane industry as a bookkeeper in Kalispell for Cal Gas. He was most recently employed as VP of marketing and sales with Heritage Propane.
On Sept. 22, 1992, Pat and Laura Shepard were married on the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Pat is survived by his wife, Laurie; son, Josh of Seattle; his parents of Sun City West, Ariz.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Jane West of Walnut Creek, Calif., Jim West and Jane Goodchild of Lake Tapps, Wash., and John and Lori West of Arlington, Wash.
He is also survived by Jamie, Joe and Lauren Watson of Puyallup, Wash.; Joey and Susie West of Auburn, Wash.; Patrick West and Beth West of Arlington; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and last, but not least, his dachshund, Zoey.
Pat had a great love of nature and was always happy with the peace he found outdoors. Pat will be missed by many friends and associates, especially his goose-hunting buddies and fishing pals.
He touched many lives and left us with warm memories of positive attitude, enthusiasm for life and kindness to others. He had a great smile, beautiful eyes and a heart of gold.
We were fortunate to have known Pat and we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on and never be forgotten.

Per Pat's request, no formal funeral service will be held at this time. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
