    • Age 78, passed away Friday, November 07, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Clarence was born March 16, 1925 in Oneida, son of the late Clarence and Nana (Adams) Denny. On June 27, 1953 he married the former Lois Payne in Neenah; she survives. For over thirty years, Clarence served the city of Appleton as a member of the Appleton Police Department, retiring in 1983 as a lieutenant. He also proudly served as a member of the United States Army during World War II as well as the Korean Conflict.

      Clarence is survived by his wife: Lois Denny of Appleton; three sons: David (Joan) Denny of Appleton; Tom (Eva) Denny of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; John Denny of Appleton; four grandchildren: Mari-Lee (Kris) Kersten, Kari Denny, Nicklas Denny, and Renae Denny; a great-grandson: Griffin Kersten; three brothers-in-law: Jerold (Shirley) Payne of Neenah; Robert (Judy) Payne of Neenah; Marvin Gallert of Berlin; his mother-in-law: Grace Payne of Neenah, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Patricia Ann Denny, sisters Elaine Gallert and Florence (Jim) Haack, brothers Don Denny and Reginald (Jean) Denny, and his father-in-law Edley Payne.

      The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 9, 2003 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Clarence’s name.
