Ambrose H. Vandenberg
Oviedo, Florida
Age 77, formerly of Appleton, passed away on October 14, 1999, at home surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was born August 17, 1922, in Combined Locks, the son of Harry and Mary (West) Vandenberg. On May 17, 1952 he married the former Florence Schmit. He was a WWII veteran and retired Operating Engineer. Am found great joy spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; son, James (Mary Beth) Green Bay; daughters, Diane (Robert) VanderZanden, Darboy; Joanne (James) Gregorius, Oconto Falls; Joyce (Brian) Szikney, Orlando, Fl; Sharon (Bill) Shaw, Chuluota, Fl; Suzanne (Walt) Howard, Winter Park, Fl; Jane (Larry) Hostetter, Orlando, Fl. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeff and Eric VanderZanden; Cailin, Kevin, and Danny Vandenberg; Steven, Patrick, and John Gregorius; Shelly, Jessica, and Matthew Szikney; Nicci and Michelle Howard; Amanda Lovelace and Jacob Hostetter. He is further survived by his brothers, Elmer (Agnes), Appleton; Harvey (Barbara) Appletpn; Raymond (Kay) Appleton; Floyd (Laverine), Little Chute; Alvin (Bev), Appleton; sisters, Delores (Earl) Walker, Appleton; Lucille (Chuck) Post, Stevens Point; Rita (Alan) Lauz, Appleton; Agnes (Bernard) Merline, Green Bay; sisters in-law; Sally, Winchester; Lucy, Appleton; Freida, Appleton. In addition, he is survived by his wifes brother and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers Arthur and Paul. He was followed in death a few day later by his brother, Richard.
A funeral mass was held in Oviedo, Fl,. on Monday October 18, 1999. A memorial mass will be held Monday November 8, 1999 at 6 PM at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Combined Locks, with the Rev. Robert Vandenberg officiating followed by a gathering after the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
