- Mrs. Mary Becker, 77, of 1133 South 20th St., Manitowoc, wife of the late John Becker, prominent south-side business man, died Tuesday at the Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Leschke Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 o'clock at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Landowski will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born Mary Ziarnik in Manitowoc in 1875, she was married to John Becker in 1894. The latter operated a grocery store on Hamilton Street, Manitowoc, for many years. The couple observed their golden wedding in 1944. Mr. Becker died in 1946.
Survivors are eight daughters, Mrs. Stanley Woytal, Mrs. Francis Tadych, Mrs. Walter Osieczanek, Mrs. Mary Denk, Mrs. Walter Erickson, Mrs. John Zagrodnik, Mrs. Felix Frozena and Mrs. Leon Nowak all of Manitowoc; two sons, Anton and Erwin of Manitowoc; brother, Wenzel Ziarnik of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Michael Pokorski and Mrs. Stanley Derus of Manitowoc; 29 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after Thursday noon, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
