    • Jerome "Gus" Thompson was called home on Epiphany, Jan. 6, 2009, funeral services are to be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2100 Cavanaugh Road, Fort Smith, AR 72908 on Saturday, January 10, 2 pm, interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation or viewing prior to the funeral and the funeral will be closed casket. If you are unable to attend you may pay your respects and sign the guest register at www.mem.com. Refreshments will be served at the church following the burial. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church to help the physical needs of underprivileged children and for ministries to youth.

      Jerome “Gus” Thompson, 66, of Mansfield, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in his home. He was employed by Baldor, a volunteer fireman, emergency medical technician and a first responder and member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ft. Smith.

      Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Smith with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood, Arkansas.

      He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Thompson of the home; one daughter, Jomie Carter of Van Buren; one son, Michael Annen of Fort Pierce, FL; two brothers, Larry L. Thompson of Norman, OK and Doug Thompson of Norco, CA; five grandchildren, Jake Hawthorne of Van Buren, AR, Ruby Annen of Ft. Pierce, FL, Brandon Carter, Blake Carter and Alex Carter all of Van Buren, AR and six great grandchildren.

      Pallbearers will be Marty Nelson, Jim Almond, Mike Smith, Kenny Hobbs, Danny Gans, Jackie Smith, Johnny Helms and Christie Helms. Honorary pallbearers will be all fire fighters, first responders and emergency medical personnel.

      Memorial contributions may be to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for the Physical Needs of Underprivileged Children and Youth Ministries, 2100 Cavanaugh Rd. Fort Smith, AR 72908.
