    • Adele Callahan-Griesbach (Nee Vandenberg) AppletonAge 84, passed away Tuesday January 23, 2001 in Madison at the home of h er daughter. Adele was born August 12, 1916 in Freedom the daughter of t he late William and Mary Ann (Garvey) Vandenberg and has resided in the F ox Valley all of her life. She was united in marriage to Arlo Callah an in 1938, sharing 42 years together before his death in 1980. Adele lat er married Lawrence Griesbach, he preceded her in death in 1993. She w as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, a nd the Laetare Study Book Club. Adele will be remembered as a compassiona te and loving mother and friend, who will be deeply missed by her famil y. Survivors include two daughters: Mary Ellen (Stephen) Schlough, Madiso n; LeeAnn (Lawrence) Lord, Spring Grove, Illinois; four sons: Tom (Barbar a) Callahan, Janesville; Steve (Carla) Callahan, Menasha; Jeff (Julie) Cal lahan, Appleton; Michael (Jann) Callahan, Elizabeth City, North Carolin a; a sister: Joan (David) Murphy, Madison; four step-children: Wayne (Sand y) Griesbach, Appleton; Greg (Mary) Griesbach, Gary (Pam) Griesbach, To wn of Menasha; Judy (Warren) Forbes, Attleboro, Massachusetts; sister-in-l aw: Donna (Leo) McDonnell of Media, Pennsylvania; special friend: Dan Rya n, Appleton; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several step- grandchildren. Adele was also preceded in death by two brothers: Elmo a nd Emmet Vandenberg; and two sisters: Margaret Terrio, and Mary Clare Vand enberg. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Janua ry 26, 2001 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., with Fr. Mich ael O'Rourke officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Frien ds may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 4 -8 p.m. Thursday and then directly at the church from 10 a.m. Friday unt il the time of service.
