James W. Thyssen

Age 66, died unexpectedly, Saturday, June 7, 1997 at Appleton Medical Center. Jim was born on July 18, 1930 in Appleton to the late William and Eleanor [Tilly] Thyssen. He married the former Bernice Melchert on July 11, 1952 in Waukeegan, Illinois. She survives, Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was employed at Miller Electric for over 40 years, retiring in 1993 as Production Scheduler. Jim loved snowmobiling, boating, hunting, fishing, camping at St. Germain, NAACAR racing and was an avid Packer fan.
Survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Terri [Dan] Laux, Appleton; Sandra [special friend Todd Kagelmann] Thyssen, Appleton; two sons, Gary [Deb] Thyssen, Appleton; Randy [Lori] Thyssen, St. Germaine; six grandchildren, Kristy, Katie, Adam, Amanda, Tyler, Erin; a sister, Carol [Frank] Lichtfuss, Appleton; two brothers in-law, Carl [Ruby] Melchert; and Gib [Marge] Melchert, Appleton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at Mont Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and again of Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
