    Herman Hildebrand

    Herman Hildebrand, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2022, from a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family and loving wife of 66 years. He was born on September 7, 1932, on the family farm in Peeksville, WI to the late Herman H. and Edna (Rominske) Hildebrand. In 1951, he moved to Appleton and was employed by Appleton Coated Papers. Herman was drafted into the army in 1952 and stationed in Salsberg, Austria as a member of the 516 Signal Company of the 7th Armored Division. After service, he returned to Appleton Coated Papers and retired in 1994 after 43 years of employment. Herman could fix and build just about anything. He loved feeding his birds and was a devout catholic with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Herman loved going to their cabin on Augustine Lake where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family and friends. He referred to up north as "God's Country." He will truly be missed by family and friends.

    Herman married Donna Noie of Little Chute in 1956. Together they had 7 children: Wayne (Judy) Hildebrand, Allen (Penny) Hildebrand, Cheryl (Mike) Schuh, Mary (Denny) Weyers, Vicky (Ed) Turek, Paul (Mary) Hildebrand, and Keith (Carla) Hildebrand. He has 19 wonderful grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

    Herman is survived by his wife, Donna Hildebrand; brothers: Ken (Roseann) Hildebrand and David (Sue) Hildebrand; sisters: Diane Derby and Judy (Bob) Paessler; sister-in-law, Janet Hildebrand; brother-in-law, Denny (Judi) Noie. He was preceded in death by brothers: Carl, Oscar and Bernie Hildebrand; sisters: Norma (Rene) Gossens, Ruth (Joe) Vander Weiland and Rosella (Wilbert) Gerrits; brother-in-law, Pat Derby; father and mother-in-law, Harold (Merelda) Noie.

    Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, N4086 Cty Rd E, Freedom. Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. followed by Military Honors. Burial will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
