      Elmer M "Ump" Ryba, 78, Little Chute, died Wednesday, 11 Aug 2003 at Franciscan Care & Rehabilitation Center, Appleton. Born 6 Apr 1925 in Little Chute to George & Catherine (Schumacher) Ryba. Elmer married Lucille Mischler 22 Aug 1946 in Little Chute. He worked at Appleton Machine/Valmet for 46 years, retiring in 1987. He was in the U.S. Navy in WW2. He was a member & past Commander of the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post #258. Survived by his wife, daughters Deborah (Mike) Kersten & Darlene (Mike) Borchardt, both of Wittenberg; a son Michael (Mary) Ryba, Littel Chute; 7 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother Hank Ryba; a sister Rosemary (George) Huss; a sister-in-law Thelma Ryba; & nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Orville, Robert, & Raymond Ryba, infant sister Evelyn, his sister & brother-in-law Martha (Francis) Vaughan. Funeral will be Thursady, 14 Aug 2003 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Burial in St John Catholic Cemetery, Little Chute. VerKuilen Funeral Home, Little Chute, is assisting the family.
