- Age 79, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2001, surrounded by his family. Boots was born on July 10, 1921, in Appleton, WI., son of the late Leonard & Josephine (Pingel) Bentle. On April 27, 1946, he married the former Florence Hartsworm at John's Congregational Church in Appleton. Boots served in the US Army Signal Corps during WWII from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stephensville and served on their church council. He was a member of the Shiocton & Black Creek American Legion Posts, served on the LaFollette School Board and was a volunteer fireman for the Hortonville Rural Fire Department. Boots owned and operated Bentle Brothers Cheese Factory along with his brothers until 1977; he then drove milk truck for Weyauwega Milk Products until his retirement in 1990. Boots enjoyed farming, fishing and spending time outddors working in the yard, but his favorite pass time was enjoying the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Boots is survived by his wife, Florence; their three children, Robert (Donna) Bentle of Hortonville; Jean (Gavino) Martinez of Appleton; Sharon Bentle of Shiocton; eight grandchildren, Thomas (Lynn), James and John Bentle; Robert (Heather) and Aaron Martinez; Dennis (Michelle) Guyette, Pamela (Nieves) Fortuno, Beth Guyette and nine great-grandchildren. Boots is furthur survived by a brother, Ralph Bentle, of Appleton; three sisters-in-law, Isabelle Elgeti, Harriet and Angeline Hartsworm and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Bentle; two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Alice Bentle, three brothers-in-law, Earl and George Hartsworm and Howard Elgeti. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Stephensville, the Rev. Joel Lillo officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 13, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Military honors will follow.
