    • Virginia L. Van Loo, 86, a resident of the Forest Grove community, passed away Thursday morning, March 9, 2006 at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro.
      Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at a later date at the Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove.
      VIRGINIA LOUISE VAN LOO was born December 29, 1919 in Gaston, Oregon, the daughter of John and Della (Chadwick) Epling. She was one of nine children. Virginia was raised and received her education in the Gaston community.
      She was united in marriage to Julius A. "Dewey" Van Loo on June 25, 1938 at St. Alexander's Catholic Church in Cornelius. Following their marriage they lived in Gaston until 1971 when they moved to Ketchikan, Alaska. After seven years, they returned to Oregon, settling in the Cornelius community. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Julius, on March 13, 1993, after celebrating over fifty-four years of marriage. Following her husband's death, Virginia continued to make her home in Cornelius until 2001 when she moved to Forest Grove.
      While living in Ketchikan, Virginia worked for Race Drug and Tongass Sporting Goods. She later worked for Tektronix in Beaverton for several years until she retired in 1981.
      Among her interests, Virginia enjoyed camping, flowers, gardening, and the outdoors. She loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Della Epling; seven brothers; one sister; and her son, Galen Dean Van Loo in 2002.
      She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Delilah M. and Harvey W. Schmidt of Forest Grove, Oregon; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Deborah L. and Jerry Cast of Cornelius, Oregon; Scott D. and Lori Van Loo of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Tony B. Van Loo of Yamhill, Oregon; Lonny R. and Cyndi Schmidt and Tim D. Schmidt all of Forest Grove, Oregon; Tracy L. Schmidt of Moriarty, New Mexico; Chad E. and Amy Cook of Sherwood, Oregon; and Renee L. and Brandon Gregory of McMinnville, Oregon; twelve great-grandchildren, Sera Holt and her husband, Steve, of Shakopee, Minnesota; A.J. Van Loo of Yamhill, Oregon; Nicolee Van Loo of Gales Creek, Oregon; Logan Van Loo and Elyssa Van Loo both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Riley Mae Schmidt of Forest Grove, Oregon; Nick Cook and Aidan Cook both of Sherwood, Oregon; and Samantha Gregory, Brooke Gregory, Katelynn Gregory and Colby Gregory all of McMinnville, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      The family suggests that remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland, 5319 SW Westgate Drive, #149, Portland, Oregon 97221, in her memory.
