- Dennis A. Van Groll, age, 58, died on Friday, September 3, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born October 18, 1951, to the late William and Barbara (Coenen) Van Groll. On October 9, 1976, he was united in marriage to Lea Ann Van Deurzen in Kimberly.
Dennis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that cherished every moment with his granddaughter, the pride and joy of his life. He loved social gatherings and spending time with his family and friends. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed a good game of sheepshead.
He is survived by his wife, Lea Ann, a son, David (Stephanie), the light of his life, his granddaughter, Brianna; brothers and sisters: Roger (Beth), Norbert, James, Laverne (Wallie) Squier, and twin sister, Janice (Allen) Schumacker. He is further survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Dave and Joan "Tickle" Kielgas; sisters-in-law: Debbie Van Deurzen, Cheryl (Michael) Gartzke, Kimberly Schultz, and Cyndi (Dale) Bornemann; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends, LaVerne and Ron Schmidt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Bobbie Van Groll, and a brother-in-law, Jack Van Deurzen.
A celebration of Dennis' life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Van Abel's of Hollandtown with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogan officiating. The family will greet family and friends at 10 a.m. with a memorial service to begin at 11 a.m. A celebratory luncheon will follow. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Memorials will be given to Challenge the Outdoors, Inc., a group dedicated to meeting the recreational needs and desires of physically challenged children, in Dennis' name.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Fourth Floor Oncology Department and Dr. Kohl and staff of the Radiation Oncology Department at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Dr. Goggins and staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology-Madison Center and Dr. Bentz and Dr. Attia from UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health for the wonderful care that Dennis received.
