- Donald P. Coenen, age 55, passed away May 14, 2011, at Appleton Medical Center, in the presence of his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Don had a great attitude and was motivated to kill cancer. He was born June 30, 1955, in Darboy, WI, son of the late Elmer and Verena (Vanden Boogard) Coenen. He married Carol (Jahnke), the love of his life on May 29, 1975. Together they shared 35 years of marriage. Don retired after working 37 years as a millwright for Azco and Miron. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed cheering for the Packers, fishing and hunting, especially with his sons. Don was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor and often the life of the party. Don is loved and will be greatly missed by all. He was a member of the Buchanan Fire Dept., National Rifle Association, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and Millwright Local Union 1056.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children: Christina (Joe) Schlintz, Timothy Coenen, Rob (Jessica) Coenen, and Joe (Koren) Coenen; his grandchildren: Andrew, Courtney, and Alexander Coenen; brothers and sisters: Carol (John) Mueller, Dennis Coenen, Patricia (Eugene) Bloedorn, Myra (James) Verhagen, Lorna (Patrick) Weyenberg, and Phyllis (Lyle) Schmidt; sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda (Ron) Giese, Bill (Mary) Jahnke, and Joyce (Mike) Vande Vyver. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Fred and Mary Jahnke, a niece, Ann Ridgley (Weyenberg), a sister-in-law, Donna Coenen, and a brother-in-law, Gene Jahnke.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 2401 Main Ave., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received directly at church on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Don's name is being established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 766-2099.
