Arthur William Van Ryzin
[Formerly of Appleton]
Age 82, passed away in California Monday at 12:30 a.m. Mr. Van Ryzin was born January 22, 1886 in Batavia, Illinois. He had been a resident of Appleton most of his life and prior to his retirement he was an engineer in the public school system. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Ushers Society, the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John [Mary Jane] Luer, Montrose, California; Mrs. Robert [Helen] Venrose, Sepulveda, California; two sons, Lt. General W.J. Van Ryzin, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Arthur, Pontiac, Michigan; four brothers, Roy and Clarence, both of Appleton; Paul, Duluth, Minnesota; Gerald, Wauwatosa; two sisters, Mrs. T.A. Jacobs, De Pere; Mrs. Norbert Hoffmann, Appleton seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
