Craanen, Donald J. Donald J. Craanen, 87, Bay Settlement, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007, at his home.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Monday from 3 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the funeral cortege leaves for church. Rosary service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road. Craanen, Donald J. Donald J. Craanen, 87, Bay Settlement, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007, at his home. Don was born on Oct. 25, 1919, the eldest child of the late Jacob and Mary (Van Lanen) Craanen. On June 6, 1945, Donald married Genevieve Brunner at St. Kilian's Catholic Church in New Franken, Wis. Donald was a dairy farmer all his life. In his early years, Donald worked for both Hamman and Ziese Construction Companies. Don was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends when needed. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his horses and took pride in his gardening, especially growing his potatoes.
Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Genevieve; his children, Brother Robert Craanen, St. Norbert Abbey, DePere; Linda (Dave) Beyer, Roger (Jeanne) Craanen, both Green Bay; Shirley Craanen and special friend, Diane Miller, Lodi, Wis.; Tim Craanen and special friend, Pam Naze, Green Bay; Julie (Rick) Paye, Casco, Wis.; his grandchildren, Angela (Brett) Baker; Stephanie Beyer (Damian Sprewer Sr.); Matthew Beyer; Nicholas (Diane) Craanen; Kristina (Mitchell) Gauthier; Jacob Craanen; Brandon, Taylor and Brianna Paye; his great-grandchildren, Damian and Alannah Sprewer; Ava and Landon Gauthier. He is further survived by Jorden Sprewer and Jennifer Naze; his brothers and sisters, Rita Strebel, Herbert (Lucille) Craanen, Milton (Marilyn) Craanen, Clayton (Ardella) Craanen, Dorothy Malczewski; sisters-in-law, Isabella Brunner and Pearl Brunner; step sisters-in-law, Grace Allen, Geraldine Vanden Houten, and Colette Wertel; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and the families of Bernard and Carol Herman and the late Art and Lou Nooyen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Antone and Alice Allen; brother-in-law, Ralph Strebel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Adelle and William Burkart; Mayme and Edmund Schauer; brothers-in-law, Clemens and Walter Brunner; step brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Hilda Allen; Myrtle and Allen Kuchenbecker; Mable and Alex Goral; Elsie and Dick Finnel; Bernard and Mildred Allen; Sylvester Allen; Lawrence Vanden Houten; and Alvin and Alice Allen.
