    • About midday on Sunday Mr. Christiaan Craanen died in Bay Settlement from brainfever. He was born in Volkel, North Brabant, netherlands. He was 66. He left a widow and 3 children; Mrs. Henry Kersten (Chilton), and Jacobus and John Craanen both married in Scott. He also left 2 sisters; Mrs. P (Gertruda) Van Venrooy of Preble and Mrs. H. (Gerardina) Van der Hei of Lawrence. Burial this morning from Holy Cross Church. Issue #12 Wednesday, May 24, 1893 Page #4
