Age 86, loving husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus at 11:40 AM Wednesday, February 1, 1995. He was born April 6, 1908 to the late Louis J. and Ella (Lemke) Smith in Appleton where he was a resident all of his life. Howand had been employed by Kurz and Root for over 30 years retiring in 1973. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time on his ham radio. He was a member of Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church.
Howard is survived by his wife, Frances M. (West) Smith with whom he shared 54 years together; two daughters and sons in-law, Sharon and Larry Krause, Joanne and Jerry Latza, all of Appleton; four grandchildren; Debbie (Gary) Meulemans, Doug (Becky) Krause, Mark Latza, Sheri (Brian) Noel; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Elaine Kohli, Appleton; several neices and nephews.
Private family memorial service will be held Friday, February 3, 1995 at the Wichmann Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Pope officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family requests memorials be sent to Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church.
