    • Anna was a very warm and quiet person. She grew up in the house that Ted and Mary lived in from about 1917 to 1929. There is a story that as a little girl she tried to pull up a small elm tree, that later grew into a large tree on the corne r of Ballard Road and the old U.S. 41. One time when mary needed some dental work but had no money, she slipped the money to Mary, and cautioned her to tell no one. Their home was a refuge for the West children while they were working in the garden, the cool water and noon lunches were looked forward to. Their daughter Minnie lived with them for many years. They celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1937 with a big party.
