      Berghuis, Robert W. Robert W. Berghuis "Bob" Sherwood, Age 77, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, surrounded by his family at his home in Sherwood. He was born January 7, 1930, in Kaukauna, son of the late John and Mary (Ashauer) Berghuis. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1947. Robert married Elizabeth "Betty" Lamers on May 12, 1953, at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. Robert had been a lifelong resident of Combined Locks where he farmed all of his life until he relocated to Sherwood in 1990.

      He is survived by his wife, Betty Berghuis, Sherwood; seven children, Joe (Patty) Berghuis, Kaukauna; Jennie (John) Ruys, Combined Locks; Rob (Lisa) Berghuis, Washougal, WA; Amy (Mark) Gocker, Kaukauna; Bill (Lori) Berghuis, Brillion; Tina (Bill) Stuyvenberg, Kaukauna; Betsy (Mark) Keuler, Wrightstown; 27 grandchildren: Matt, Mark, and Katie Berghuis; Rob, Al, and John Ruys; Lindsey (Chris Strickland), Luke, and Samantha Berghuis; Phil, Laura, Michael, Clair, and Andrea Gocker; Alicia, Abby, Beth, and Bob Berghuis; Liz, Lauren, and Anna Stuyvenberg; Al, Margo, Hannah, Ella, David, and Sam Keuler; one great-grandchild: Sam Strickland; two brothers: Tom (Terry) Berghuis, Darboy; Jack Berghuis, Hilbert; three sisters: Ruth (David) Sturm, Florida; Joan Van Dyke, Kaukauna; Mary DeBruin, Kaukauna; Betty (David) Hahn, Hiltonhead, SC; one brother-in-law, Bob (Mary) Lamers, Kaukauna; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Pete) Vanevenhoven, Kaukauna; Donna (Stan) Fisher, Kaukauna; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

      He was preceded in death by his infant son, James Berghuis; his parents, John and Mary Berghuis; his father and mother-in-law, Hugo and Genevieve (Meier) Lamers; brother-in-law, Bill VanDyke; brother-in-law, Del Brayton; and sister-in-law, Rose Berghuis.

      The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sherwood, with Fr. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep and Rev. Bob Vandenberg co-officiating. Friends will be received directly at church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
