- Betty Ann Hanegraaf (Phillips), age 86, formerly of Bullhead City, Arizona, died Thursday, April 06, 2017, in Bend, Oregon.Betty was born Aug 16, 1930, in Appleton Wis., to George and Gladys Phillips (Brainard). Betty graduated from High School in Appleton Wisconsin. In 1950 Betty married Francis "Bud" Hanegraaf who was her partner for 62 years. The two of them moved to California where Betty continued her education and became an accountant. Having had a successful career and raising four children, Betty retired with her husband Bud and they travelled the country in a motorhome for 20 years before settling in Arizona. Betty was a prolific writer who published many articles chronicling her and Bud's 20 years of traveling around the country in the motorhome and the many beautiful places they visited. Betty had many talents but the one that stood out in addition to her writing was her piano playing. She had a fondness for ragtime and beautifully played hits such as "The Entertainer" and "Alley Cat". Betty is preceded in death by her husband Francis Hanegraaf and her sister Jeannie Deeg. Betty is survived by her son, David Hanegraaf, three daughters, Sandie Fraits, Jodie Hazenberg, and Carrie Blake; 13 grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
