    • William J. Marquardt I, Pickerel, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at home under the care of his family. He was 75 years old. He was born on March 8, 1937, in Marinette, a son of Charles and Amelia (Revior) Marquardt. He married Carol Heegeman on June 13, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. She survives along with their daughter and four sons.

      A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hwy 55 in Pickerel, with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in the parish cemetery.

      Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.

      William J Marquardt I, of Pickerel, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 75 years old. He was born on March 8, 1937 in Marinette, a son of Charles and Amelia (Revior) Marquardt. He married Carol Heegeman on June 13, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. She survives.

      He attended grade school in Algoma until the family moved to Little Chute in 1947 where he attended St. John Parochial School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1956-1958.

      Mr. Marquardt moved with his wife and children to Pickerel in 1968 where he was employed by the town of Nashville handling road maintenance. He founded and operated Marquardt Construction, later known as Woodland Builders. He also owned and operated a saw mill for customized sawing.

      Mr. Marquardt studied and received his certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician and was one of the charter members and served as chief of the Pickerel Rescue Squad. He was a member and president of the Pickerel Volunteer Fire Department. He served as town of Nashville supervisor from 1991-1997 and was active in the Lily Lake Association, participating in many association projects including building fish cribs. He was a member of St. Mary Parish in Pickerel serving on the building committee for the construction of the hall wing and sang in the church choir.

      He loved the outdoors and Lily Lake where he built his retirement home and spent many happy times with his family and grandchildren. He was known by family, friends and customers for his famous statement "I'll do the thinking". He was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan.

      Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter Kari Miller, Brandon, FL; four sons William Marquardt II, Pickerel, Donald (Frankie) Marquardt, Marquette, MI, Robert Marquardt, Brandon, FL, Joseph (Michelle) Marquardt, Eau Claire; ten Grandchildren Joshua (Sara) Marquardt, Kyle (Kim) Miller, Tawnee Miller, Tommy Marquardt, Jamie Marquardt, Meghan Marquardt, Aaron Marquardt, Tyler Marquardt, Va Lisa Marquardt, Michael Marquardt; a great-grandson Mason Miller; three brothers Dale, Wayne (Linda) and Gary (Mary) Marquardt; three sisters Helen Olson, Lucille "Toots" Pennings, Evie (Ralph) Verbeten; forty nieces and nephews.

      In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon, Irvin "Bud" and Norman Marquardt, a sister, Dorothy Henkins, six nieces and nephews.

      A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in the parish cemetery.

      Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
