Notes - My Great Grandpa Gerald James Stadler was born on February 11, 1922, on his family farm in Appleton. He was one of eight children. Jerry went to school at St. Edwards in Mackville and was an altar boy. He never went to high school.
He helped on his parent's farm and made $1.50 per day, sawing down trees and milking cows.
Jerry had epileptic seizures from the time he was 12 years old, and had been sent to a Madison hospital for testing.
Henry met Rosemary Wittlin at the Cinderella Dance Hall in Appleton, at 13 years of age; they got married when she was 17 years old. After the marriage they moved to Baraboo, WI and Jerry worked in an ammunition camp. later Rose was involved in an auto accident and they were told they would never be able to have kids. When the ammunition camp closed they moved to Appleton and Jerry got a job at Appleton Paper Mill and the Combined Locks Mill. Jerry was a good baseball player and could have been professional, but he had a family to raise.
In 1948 Jerry bought a 7 acre farm in Little Chute. Rose and Jerry ended up having 11 children and all of them attended St John School in Little Chute.
Jerry died July 19, 2004 from pancreatic cancer.
