 | Carleton Arnold Tiedt, 90, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was born on October 1, 1933 to Arnold F. and Erma M (Krueger) Tiedt. He met the love of his life, Lois Jean Snell, at Cinderella Ballroom. They were married November 20, 1954 and celebrated 69 years this past November.
Carleton was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. In 1954, he joined the United States Marine Corp. Through the years he was employed by Kools Bros., Tesch Bros. Implement, and Center Valley Coop. In his retirement years he drove for Casper Truck Equipment until the age of 84. He was a member of the Town of Center Fire Department for many years. Time with his family meant the world to him. He was an avid Ford guy and could fix anything. He always set aside Thursdays as lawn cutting day. Weekends were enjoyed at their Cedar Lake cottage as well as listening to polkas.
Carleton is survived by his loving wife Lois “Jean”; son, Jeff (Jennice) Tiedt and daughter, Connie (Tim) Dontje; grandchildren: Crystal (Clint) Schultz, Ryan (Allison) Tiedt, Emily (Matt) Blake, Dustin (Melissa) VerVoort, and Matthew (Casey) VerVoort; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 step great grandchild. He is further survived by his siblings: Ruth Wendt, Karen (Clem) Balthazor, Allan (Jean) Tiedt; and sister-in-law, Joyce Tiedt; in-laws: Norman Snell, Jan Seegers, Sue (John) Hinchly, and Diane Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry; his parents; brother, Nathan; brother-in-law, Merle Wendt; in-laws: Lester and Hilda Snell, Lorraine Vanden Blomer, Phyllis (Earl) Springstroh, Doris Snell, Lester F. Snell, Doris (Stanley) Felzer, Wayne Seegers, Pat (Terry) Howard, and Jerry Bowers.
Visitation for Carleton will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison St., Appleton beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors to follow. Carleton will be laid to rest in Highland Memorial Park.
