Heaven is smiling as it welcomed a fantastic womanMarion Carmen Thiel Biese (nee Hopfensperger)who left us on Thursday afternoon, March 2, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born April 20, 1923, in Darboy, the youngest child of John and Petronella (Van Handel) Hopfensperger. Carmen met her future husband, Alois Thiel Jr., on the family farm as he picked up the daily milk. Carmen loved to dance and spent many an evening at the Cinderella ballroom where Al played tenor sax with a local band. They married on November 27, 1947, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy. Together they raised three children. When they lived above the cheese factory mom provided meals for the single workers who didnt miss an opportunity to indulge in a wonderful homemade breakfast and lunch. She also wrapped butter to help out in the business. In later years, they spent many a weekend at their cottage on Lake Moshawquit, fishing and boating in summer and snowmobiling in winter. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1972. Moms love of dancing introduced her to a wonderful gentleman, Robert Biese. In June 1977, they were married at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Carmen gained four wonderful, caring step-children. The two of them enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, the western states, and Europe as well as spending time at the cottage. Carmen was the quintessential wife and mother. Her biggest joy was providing a clean home and wonderful home-cooked meals for her family. A happy memory was coming home from skating to the smell of homemade doughnuts. Her love was unconditional. She was given many crosses to bear, but bore them bravely and served as a role model for her family. Her faith was an integral part of her life; the daily rosary her companion. She rarely complained and always had a smile to greet you, especially recently if you came bearing cream-filled chocolate doughnuts. Sweets were a well known favorite. She loved watching the Green Bay Packers. You knew not to call her if they were playing. Carmen was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood and the St. Ann Society. Mom, you said you wanted to see what was on the other side. We hope its all you expected and so much more. You will live on in our hearts. We love you so muchyou were the heart of our family. No one could ask for a better mom.
