Weyenberg, Melvin W.
Melvin W. Weyenberg Lefty, age 78, of Little Chute, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 11, 1926 in Kaukauna, son of George and Josephine (Wildenberg) Weyenberg. Melvin married Lucille A. Sanderfoot Ceil, November 10, 1949 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Melvin was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Lefty was employed for 38 and one-half years at Thilmany International Paper until his retirement where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker.
Lefty is survived by his wife, Ceil; two sons and three daughters: Dan (Donna) Weyenberg, Little Chute; Sally (Mike) Dickinson, Black Creek; Sue (Richard) Geneske, Kimberly; Gary Weyenberg and special friend, Gail, Little Chute; Mary Kris (Joe) Kempen, Little Chute; 11 grandchildren: Shelly (Jeff) Berghuis, Sara (Todd) Hietpas, Molly (Don) Vosters, Jenni (Kirk) Vanden Wyngaard, Jim Geneske, Amy and Katie Weyenberg, Mitch and Ben Kempen, Steven and Jennifer Dickinson; 12 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Floyd Weyenberg, Larson; Pearl (Jerome) Van Eperen, Little Chute; Elaine Brown, Kaukauna; Don (Barb) Weyenberg, Georgia; Gerald (Kay) Weyenberg, Kaukauna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joe (Rachel) Sanderfoot, Pickerel; Bob (Mary) Sanderfoot, Little Chute; Blanche (Gordon) Kerrigan, Kaukauna; Joyce Tiedt, Little Chute; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Joe and Rose Sanderfoot; a sister-in-law, Margaret Weyenberg; two brothers-in-law: Nathan Tiedt and John Brown.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday June 19, 2004 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. A Legion Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Military rites will be conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 following mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
