    • Norma Josephine Gossens, age 82, passed away at home unexpectedly Thursday, November 7, 2002. She was born February 21, 1920, in Butternut, WI, the daughter of Edna (Rominski) Hildebrand of Colony Oaks Care Center, Appleton, and the late Herman Hildebrand. On February 4, 1947, Norma married Rene Gossens in Butternut, Wisconsin; he survives.

Norma was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Kimberly. She was a model wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an especially loving, devoted, humble, and selfless person, who was an excellent cook and loved to cook for others. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and watching the birds at her feeders. She left this earth as quietly as she lived. “Well done, good and faithful servant. Yours is the Kingdom of God.” Thank you Lord for giving her to us.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Irenaeus “Rene” Gossens: a daughter; Rosalyn (Joseph) Boero, Butternut, WI, five sons: Gary (Vickie) Gossens, Kimberly; Denny (Janice) Gossens, Neenah; Kevin Gossens, Waupaca; Randy (Vicki) Gossens, Kimberly; Ken Gossens, Appleton, nine siblings; Rosella Gerrits, Carl Hildebrand (deceased), Oscar Hildebrand, Ruth (Joseph) Vander Wielen, Herman (Donna) Hildebrand, Ken (Rosanne) Hildebrand, David (Sue) Hildebrand, Bernard (Janet) Hildebrand, Diane (Pat) Derby, and Judy (Bob) Paessler; brother-in-law Norb (Toni) Gossens; thirteen grandchildren; Sara (Tom) Vanden Heuvel, Eric, Gina, and Kari Gossens; Missy Meidl; Jody (Aaron) Rauen; Jodi (Craig) White; Shawn Allen; Kelly Gossens; Margaret and John Boero; Dan and Kacie Gossens; and seven great grandchildren. Preceding Norma in death was her father Herman Hildebrand; an infant son Joseph; brother Carl Hildebrand; brothers-in-law Arthur (Kate) Gossens and Bill Gerrits; sisters-in-law Sr. Fidelis Gossens, Sr. Illumina Gossens, Agnes (George) Fritz, and Cecilia (Frank) Brooks; and brother-in-law Bill Gerrits.

The funeral liturgy for Norma will be held a 11:00 AM on, Saturday, November 9, 2002, at HOLY NAME OF JESUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the services.

The family would like to thank the Fox Valley Metro Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and St. Elizabeth Hospital for their efforts.

If Roses grow in Heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.
