    • John J. "Joe" Vander Wielen, age 84, of Kimberly, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 22, 2012. Joe was born on March 14, 1928, in Kimberly to the late Peter and Agnes (Ruys) Vander Wielen. He married Ruth Hildebrand on May 27, 1953, in Kimberly. Joe loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and watching the birds. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. Joe was employed at the Kimberly Paper Mill for over 40 years, retiring in 1990.

      Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth; his children, Steve (Gina) Vander Wielen, Amherst; Ron (Paula) Vander Wielen, Kansas; Ginny (Mike) Delfosse, Kaukauna; David Vander Wielen; Appleton; Julie (Gregg) Johnson, Appleton; Dennis Vander Wielen, Kimberly; and Dean Vander Wielen, Appleton; his grandchildren, Kurt (Nikki) Vander Wielen, Eric (Kelli) Vander Wielen, Lisa (Jeremy) Van Handel, Trisha Vander Wielen (fiance Joel), Kelly Johnson, Sarah Hasse, Bradd Johnson and Robyn Vander Wielen; his great grandchildren, Isaac, Kaylin, Jaden, Kaily, Degan, Aubrey, Ali, Hadie, Ella, Karter, Emma, Jackson and Kassidy. His sisters, Anna (Ray) Rietveld, Mary (Norb) Kilsdonk, Dorothy (Ron) Theisen and Fran (Joe) Vangrinsven; his brother, Hank (Pearl) Vander Wielen. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David (Sue) Hildebrand, Kenny (Roseann) Hildebrand, Whitey Hildebrand, Herman (Donna) Hildebrand, Bernard (Janet) Hildebrand, Judy (Bob) Paessler, and Diane (Pat) Derby. Joe was preceded in death by a sister Theresa Rietveld and his brother Bart Vander Wielen; and sisters-in-law, Rosella Gerrits and Norma Gossens, and his brother-in-law, Carl Hildebrand.

      The Funeral Liturgy will be at NOON on Monday, November 26, 2012, at HOLY NAME/HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 620 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Holy Name Catholic Church Cemetery, Kimberly. Military Honors will be observed at the cemetery following the mass. A memorial has been established in his name. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com

      He was the best Dad in the world. He will be missed every day.
