- Helen L. Navarrete of Combined Locks, age 78, died peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday March 13, 2014 at the St. Paul Home. She was born on January 12, 1936 in Streator, IL to the late John and Elizabeth (Mastilac) Harasti. Helen married Donald Navarrete at First Baptist Church in Streator on March 28, 1953 and was looking forward to their 61st wedding anniversary this month. Together, they owned Office Maintenance Services and retired in 2008. Prior to her employment with the family business, Helen took great pride in her work at Tel-Sec. Helen was a gifted artist; she enjoyed painting, drawing and photography. She was also a great cook, having a knack for coming up with an amazing Sunday dinner as the kids and grandchildren were always welcomed. She also was a member of the Combined Locks V.F.W. and Darboy American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her husband, Don; children: Gerry (Greg) Vanden Heuvel, Kaukauna; Larry (Susan), Darboy; Kris (John) Smith, Combined Locks; Julie (Keith) Kramer, Combined Locks; and Jackie (Mark) Boyd, Darboy; grandchildren: Mykk El-ahrairah, Diana (Jeremy) Gerrits, Angela (Sam) Peeters, Andrew (Kelyn) Navarrete, Beth (fiancé Nick Romenesko) Navarrete, Ryan, Jordan and Alaina Smith, Jessica (Corey) Roberts, Joey and Laura Kramer, Erin (Marty) Docter, Danielle Mitchler and Harrison Boyd; great grandchildren: Natus, Arabella, Quindlyn, Graham, Connor, Mason, Matthew, Carter, Cole, Tressa, Mattie, Kaden and Addison; siblings: Elizabeth and Joseph Harasti; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty Harasti, Mary (John) Dennert, Jack (Marcia) Navarrete and Jim McCann. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her siblings: George, John (Ruth) and Michael (Dorothy) Harasti and Mary (Lloyd) Corder; Father and Mother-in-law Fred and Kathryn Navarrete; and sister-in-law Jean McCann.
Visitation will be held Monday March 17, 2014 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Andrew Kysely will officiate.
