Nussbaum, Lorraine "Winkenwerder"
Lorraine Nussbaum, "Winkenwerder," 89, Hortonville, passed away peacefully, with her children at her side, on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at St. Joseph Residence, New London. Lorraine was born on July 11, 1920, in the Town of Greenville, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Seiif) Beschta. On Aug. 24, 1940, she married Wilbur Winkenwerder and resided in Medina until moving to Hortonville in 1971. Her first husband, Wilbur Winkenwerder, preceded her in death on July 22, 1962. On March 4, 1976, she married Wilbur "Pete" Nussbaum. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2005.
She had been employed at the Hortonville Canning Factory, Campbell's Department Store in Appleton, and retired from Wire Products of Hortonville after 17 years. She was a life-long member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and over a 50 year member of the Christian Women's Society. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Her freezer was always full of "goodies."
Lorraine is survived by her children, Joyce (Bill) Kramer, Jim (Diane) Winkenwerder, all of Hortonville; "Pete's" son, Ralph (Sherry) Nussbaum, Marshfield; grandchildren, Bob (Jill) Kramer, Steve (Becky) Kramer, Kris (Bryan) Cartwright, Patti (Will) Thern, Jeff (Mary Jo) Winkenwerder, Trisha (Chad) Ewing, Jeff (Kim) Nussbaum, Ben (Bridgette) Nussbaum, David Nussbaum, Julie Nussbaum; great-grandchildren, Brett and Drew Kramer, Kaitlin Kramer, Brady and Jake Cartwright, Tayler, Dustin and Alaina Thern, Lindy Winkenwerder, Lydia and Kendall Ewing and Zach and Lucy Nussbaum; brothers-in-law, Vic Winkenwerder and Eugene (Sam) Wolf. She is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husbands, Lorraine was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Art (Helen) Beschta, Elmer (Dorothy) Beschta, Adeline (Sylvester) Giesen and Ella (Bob) Griesbach; and a great-grandson, Evan Winkenwerder.
Funeral Services for Lorraine will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville, with Fr. Jim Feely and Parish Director, Greg Layton, officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Residence for their care over the past three years and also Heartland Hospice for their compassion and help.
