- Donald J. Janssen, Little Chute, age 86, died Wednesday January 22, 2014 at his home. He was born in Little Chute on May 11, 1927 to the late Peter and Martha (Ebben) Janssen. He married Agnes Cummings at St. Joseph Parish on October 7, 1950. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2002 after 52 years of marriage. Don was proud of his Naval service and was especially honored to participate in the Old Glory Honor Flight with his brothers, Gerrit and Pete. Special thanks go to Tim Schmidt and the Honor Flight team for making this an extraordinary day. Family always came first for Don. He was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church—a man of strong faith who attended church and prayed the rosary daily. In addition to working 45 years in the mill, Don always had a part-time job. He never complained, and loved gardening and working in his yard. Though he was man of few words, Don had the ability use them well to teach others. He was an avid fan of the Cubs and Packers and a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258.
Don is survived by his children: John (Cheri), Hortonville; Teresa (Mike) Hammers, Hortonville; Phil (Julianne), Neenah; Chuck (LeeAnn), Little Chute; and Maria (Rick) Clark, Appleton; 15 grandchildren: Michelle (Ross) Widtfeldt, Jamie (Anello) Mollica, Julie (Jamie) Siewert, Brian (Mandy) Hammers, Erin (Jason) Schoemann, Nicholas Janssen, Megan Janssen, Charlie (Kim) Janssen, Michael J.
