Vande Hey, Virginia M. "Skippy"
Virginia M. Vande Hey, 78, Little Chute, went home peacefully to be with Jesus surrounded by her family on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008. She was born in Little Chute on Dec. 8, 1929, to the late Albert and Rosella "Rose" (Vanden Heuvel) Van Dyn Hoven. On Aug. 6, 1949, she married Eugene F. "Gene" Vande Hey at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. Virginia was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and attended Christ The Rock Community Church frequently. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and golfing. Virginia loved to travel and she and Gene were able to winter in Arizona for 14 years. It was there that she founded Skippy's Hauling Service. Virginia treasured her family and loved her grandchildren dearly.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Eugene; two children, Pastor David P. (Mary) Vande Hey and their children, Jenny (Josh) Schmaltz, Dan (Erin), Becca (Lucas) Engle, Ellen (Scott) Van Groll, Sarah, Bethany, Peter, Nathan, Joshua and Maydee; and Kim (Jay) Vande Burgt and their children, Nick, Dave and Laura; six great-grandchildren. Ethan and Ty Schmalz, Caden Vande Hey, Isaiah, Carter and Nehemiah Engle; sisters and brother, Alice Mignon, Carol (Ivo) Haen, Audrey (Yutz) Rooyyakkers and Clyde (Jackie) Van Dyn Hoven; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dick Hoks, Fr. Robert Vande Hey, Earl (Mary Ann) Vande Hey, Gladys Tennessen, Sr. Eugenia Vande Hey, Art (Tesse) Vande Hey and Grace (Marv) Zwick.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; grandson, Thomas Vande Burgt; sister, Laverne Hoks; and brothers-in-law, Donny Mignon and Leroy Tennessen.
Visitation will begin Tuesday at 2 p.m. until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE (323 Pine St., Little Chute). The Rev. David J. Funk, O.F.M. Cap. will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. A memorial will be established.
The Vande Hey family wishes to thank the staff at Theda Care at Home, especially Angela, the staff at Appleton Medical Center, Dr. Bruce Danz, Deacon Bruce and Kim Corey for the love and care given to Virginia.
