    • John Tarkowski, Jr., 84, De Pere, passed away January 17, 2013. He was born November 24, 1928 to the late John Sr. and Viola (Wilkowski) Tarkowski in the Town of Eaton. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the Navy in the Hawaiian Isles. He worked for the Brown County Highway Dept and enjoyed driving the snow plow and his work in the sign department. He enjoyed bass fishing, hunting and shooting, playing cards and tinkering in the garage. He was a member of the Lost Chord Club and drove for the DAV.

      Survivors include his children: John L. (Jeanette) Tarkowski; Lenny (Mary) Tarkowski; Barb (Dan) Maschmeier; Kathy (David) Bensoni; Mike Tarkowski; and Lynn (John) VandeVelden; grandchildren: Jennifer (Ben) Allen and their children, Delanie and Dominic; Jody (Kevin) Kapusinski and their daughter, Margaret Rose; Melanie (special friend-Tom) Tarkowski; Steve Tarkowski; Nick (fiance Donna) Tarkowski; Patrick Tarkowski; Taggard (Heather) Hecker and their children, Kylie and Audrey; Ben VandeVelden and Ray VandeVelden; God-daughters, Patty Ann and LouAnn; a brother, Cliff (the late Irene) Tarkowski, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

      John was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, sisters: Mary (Edwin) Brosteau, Genevieve (Frank) Lawler, Anne (Hubert) VanDolah, Isabelle (Leo) Derus, Margaret (Joe) Boziak, Elsie (Micky) DeGrave; brothers: Dan (Evelyn), Ben (Violet) and Milton (Evelyn) Tarkowski.
