Age 60, died suddendly Monday, April 9, 1990 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born October 11, 1929, in Appleton the son of John and Myrtle [Scafer] Van Hammond. Bud retired from the US Air Force in 1968 after 20 years of service. He had served in the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. Bud was employed by Jerry's Lanes and was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Chuch, Kimberly.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Dolores [Klein] Van Hammond; his mother, Myrtle Van Hammond, Kimberly; his mother in-law, Anna Klein, Menasha; a son, James W. Van Hammond, Denver, Colorado; a daughter and son in-law, Mary and Capt. Christopher Bohne, US Air Force; three grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, and Bryan Bohne; a brother and sister in-law, Richard and Toni Van Hammond, Appleton; a sister and brother in-law, Mary Jane and William Paalman, Land O' Lakes. He is also survived by his wife's brothers and a sister; Robert and Joanne Klein, Menasha; Eugene and Maureen Klein, Neenah; James and Dawn Klein, Hilbret; Evalyn and Eugene Couillard, Menasha.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Van Hammond in 1970; and his father in-law, Michael Klein in 1988. The funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 1990 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly with Msgr. Robert F. Gulig officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday until the cortege leaves for the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
