    Obituary
    Obituary
Appleton - 77, passed away on February 7, 2021 after a short battle with Metastatic Urothelial Cancer. Pat was born on April 22, 1943 to Lewis and Helen McCormick of Kaukauna, WI. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1961, he went on to serve in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon returning home, Pat was employed as a Security Officer at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah where he met his former wife of 28 years, Donna McCormick (Bartelt). Together they had 2 children: Cara and Michael. Pat held a variety of jobs over the years, but ultimately retired in 2015 as a TSA Agent through Homeland Security at the Appleton International Airport.

Pat loved spending time outdoors, especially at his parent's home on Kelly Lake. He enjoyed sharing stories, playing card games like poker with his sisters (taking all their money of course), playing Shake of the Day, spending time with his grand dogs, and drinking his Blackberry Brandy.

Pat's most recognizable title was Scoutmaster Pat. Pat joined Boy Scouts as a young boy and went on to earn the coveted Eagle Scout Award in 1958. Scouting ran through his blood and he helped establish Boy Scout Troop 67 of VFW Post 2778, Appleton, WI. The scout troop was an extension of his family. Pat's second home was Gardner Dam Boy Scout Camp and eventually Troop 67 created Camp Wolf on the Breyer family land. From Court of Honor ceremonies, annual chili suppers at the VFW, placing flags on Veteran's graves for Memorial Day, and selling wreaths; there was always something going on in the troop. Scouts and families also knew that Pat was only a phone call away. His phone literally rang all day long. As a Scoutmaster of 50+ years, Pat aided thousands of boys, their families and his community. Pat assisted 116 scouts, including his son Michael, in earning their Eagle Scout Award: a remarkable achievement in the scouting community.

In the last 13 years, Pat became a grandfather to Olivia, Patrick and Torin which could arguably be his greatest joy. Pat enjoyed watching Olivia perform at cheer, dance and archery competitions as well as listening to her play her viola. With his grandsons, Patrick and Torin, he loved to go swimming and fishing. They also gardened, built various things and horsed around.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Cara Wege (Adam); his son, Michael (Nicole); his former wife, Donna McCormick; 3 grandchildren, Olivia Wege, Patrick and Torin McCormick; one brother, Jack (Nancy) McCormick; five sisters: Kay (Willie) Otto, Eileen Gerrits (Dick Dollevoet), Colleen (Ron) Verkuilen, Maureen (Ken) Schwaller, Noreen (Cory) Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Helen McCormick and a niece, Laura. Pat's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who has had the privilege to know him.

A Memorial Service for Pat will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 3 PM at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel in Appleton followed by Military Honors performed by VFW Post# 2778 of Appleton. Friends may visit the family from 1-3 PM and please wear a mask if attending. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Pat's name for Gardner Dam Boy Scout Camp and Camp Wolf.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion and care given by Dr. Winkel and nursing staff: Danielle, Amy and Ryan at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center. The family would also like to extend our gratitude to Scott, Tim, Corey and Joyce from Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel for being loyal friends of the family for so many years.
