- Laurina H. Breit, Sherwood, age 87, was taken up to heaven on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 which was her late husband's birthday. She was born December 25, 1924 to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Bauer) Thiel. On August 12, 1947 she married Roland Breit. Laurina, along with her husband lived, farmed and raised 12 children in the Sherwood area until their retirement. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Laurina loved listening to the Jerry Schnieder show on Saturday morning, along with her many CD's of Daniel O'Donald. She also loved watching the Green Bay Packer Games, especially when her favorite quarterback played, Brett Favre. She loved flowers and her many flower beds showed it. Laurina was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood. She was with the Christian Mothers, American Legion Auxiliary, and NFO. Laurina will be remembered for the wonderful cook and baker she was, and for the many, many funeral lunches she prepared and served, especially her oh so great potato salad. She was very happy and proud to make Father Ken Frozena his angel food cake for his birthdays each year.
Laurina is survived by her 12 children: Harold (Lorene) Breit, Elkhart Lake, Allan (Diane) Breit, Post Lake, Beatrice (Dick) Baird, Chilton, James (Renee) Breit, Sherwood, Beverly (Mike) Grenzer, Chilton, Anthony (Judy) Breit, Hilbert, Bernice (Larry) Kuepper, Menasha, Bernadine (Ken) Rieder, Silica, Alphons (Lisa) Breit, Hilbert, Brenda (Robert) Sheahan, Hilbert, Bernetta (Dave) Kersten, Hilbert, and Gerald (Carrie) Breit, Appleton; 32 grandchildren: Stephanie Peplin, Travis Breit, Heather Breit, Jennifer Lueneburg, Christopher Baird, Nickole Burr, Mark Baird, Mindy Guardado, Bobbi Pogrant, Adam Breit, Nick Grenzer, Ann Grenzer, Shawn Breit, Sara Bangart, Angela Lenz, Brian Breit, Amanda Rieder, Andrew Rieder, Ashley Rieder, Alyssa Rieder, Eric Breit, Dylan Breit, Courtney Breit, Mitchel Sheahan, Mathew Sheahan, Manuel Sheahan, Jessica Kersten, Jeremiah Kersten, Jackie Kersten, Johanna Kersten, Mitchel Breit, and Alex Breit; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sister Elizabeth Ann, Sherwood and Mardella (Larry) Wieseckel, Hilbert; two brothers: Clarence Thiel, Stockbridge and Art (Jane) Thiel, Chilton. She is further survived by her husband's family: Leroy Breit, Kiel; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Laurina was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Breit on November 28, 1991; a granddaughter, Abigail Rieder; her parents, Michael and Elizabeth (Bauer) Thiel; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Leander Schmidt; a brother and sister-in-law, Norbert and Evelyn Thiel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clara Thiel, Georgiana Breit, Darrel and Virginia Gasch; father and mother-in-law, Peter and Paulene Breit; step mother-in-law, Rosella Breit.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, March 12, 2012 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, N369 Military in Sherwood with Fr. Michael Betley and Fr. Ken Frozena concelebrating. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr. in Kaukauna with prayers concluding the evening. Friends may call again on Monday directly at Church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
