- Robert "Bob" A. Welter, 94, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Heritage Memory Care in Eau Claire.
He was born on February 26, 1919, in Eau Claire, the son of Edward and Nettie (Schwartz) Welter.
Bob grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High. He married Elaine A. Milton of Kaukauna, WI, on March 2, 1940.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 53 in Eau Claire.
Bob worked for many years as an auto body repairman for Trubuilt Auto. He later became the owner of Steam-O-Vac carpet cleaning.
Bob was a man of many talents, especially in woodworking, and spent countless hours in his shop. He was the go-to-guy when anything needed fixing.
Bob was a kind and gentle man who was loved beyond words.
Bob is preceded in death by his dear wife, Elaine; his parents; son-in-law, Nick Hietpas; brothers, Duane, Don, Edward, and baby James Welter; sister, Bernadette Peterson; special sister-in-law, Lucille Welter; and great-great-granddaughter, Marie.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Nancy Hietpas of Little Chute, Michael (Joyce) Welter of Mondovi; and Barbara (Warren) Swenson of Woodbury, MN; eight loved grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Welter; and brother-in-law, Norm Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Burial, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post 53, will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon at Monday at the funeral home.
