  • Notes
    • Lord Jesus Christ released Mary Blanchard from her earthly body on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at Blossom Place, assisted living, where she had resided since 2008. Mary previously was a long-time resident of the Nile Valley/Chinook Pass area.

She was born in August, 1928 Yakima, WA, to Lawrence and Delina (Poulin) Blanchard. She was the youngest of three; joining brothers Edward and Roy. Mary attended Wide Hollow School in the West Yakima area, while the family lived on a farm, at which time she made pets of every animal. The family then relocated to 6th Street in Yakima, closer to the Boise Mill. Mary and childhood friends had many cherished memories of playing in the Yakima River and swimming at Miller pool.

Prior to her employment at the Weyerhaeuser Container Co., in both Yakima and Olympia, she was employed by Yakima movie theaters and played softball for the Apple Queens. After her 20 year retirement from Weyerhaeuser in Olympia she relocated to the Nile Valley/Chinook Pass area, where she later worked and retired from the Naches Valley School District.

Mary loved her many dogs, cats and every hummingbird she could lure to her feeders. Before dementia invaded her life, there wasn’t a satellite television receiver, remote control or microwave she could not program. She crafted many needlework masterpieces, figuring out the most intricate stitches. She was an INDEPENDENT, Saucy gal with all the gumption to get any project done. Mary teased and taunted her nephews with a wink and twinkle in her eye, giving a “thumbs up” to the very end.

Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Nadine (Roy) Blanchard, of Naches and nephews Larry (Susie) Blanchard of Central Point, OR; Mark (Sheryl) Blanchard of Yakima; Don (Margie) Blanchard, Selah; Lonnie (Delrae) Blanchard, Nile Valley/Chinook Pass and John (Tracy) Blanchard of Naches; and cousins, Jerry & Sandy Blanchard of Nile Valley/Chinook Pass.

Deepest gratitude to the loving care-givers of Blossom Place during her 8 year residency. Many thanks also for the additional, loving care given by Heartlinks Hospice during her final weeks.

Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, no memorial service will be held. Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Suggested memorial donations to; Wags to Riches Animal Rescue, PO Box 3177, Union Gap, WA 98903 or Heartlinks Hospice, 3920 Outlook Rd., Sunnyside, WA 98944.
