- Cornelius Coppens, age 81, of Appleton, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011, with his family by his side. He was born on May 13, 1930, in Rosmalen, Holland, the son of the late Lambert and Maria (Hanegraaf) Coppens. On January 16, 1960, he married Corrine Baumann at St. Mary Catholic Church in Black Creek. Neal was retired for almost 20 years from Riverside Paper. He operated Coppens Printing Company with his wife out of their home for many years. Neal loved golfing, bowling and playing pool and enjoyed watching sports.
Neal is survived by his wife, Corrine; six children, Kathy Coppens; Fran (Tom) Ebben; Valerie (Steve) Jaske; John (Cheryl) Coppens; Peggy (Ken) Smith and Jenny (Steve) Russell; twelve grandchildren, Sheila and Crystal Ramirez; Carly (Ryan) Beasley and Luke Ebben; Rheanna (Ryan) Dickerson, Ben (fiancee Katie Liermann) Jaske and Molly Jaske; Alyssa, Chance and Kailey Coppens; Samantha and Andy Smith; five sisters, Dora van Lee, Dina Debekker, Kaat (Chris) Lommers, Mieka (John) Joritsma, and Jo (Jan) Ruys; three brothers, Albertus (Bert) Coppens, Harry (Truus) Coppens, and Faas (Riet) Coppens and his sister-in-law, Harriet Coppens. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Neal was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Marie Coppens and his son, Gregory Allen Coppens, brothers, Ted Coppens, Wilhelmus (Dora) Coppens, and John Coppens, and sister, Francisca Coppens.
The funeral liturgy for Cornelius will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Fr. David Kelly, O.F.M. will be officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. A visitation will take place at 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
