- Cecile B. (Brunet) Dumas, 92, longtime resident of Syracuse, died Thursday at Crouse Hospital. A native of St. Vincent in Alberta, Canada, Cecile had resided on Grant Blvd. in Syracuse for many years and was the daughter of the late Cleophas and Ida (Adam) Brunet. She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo Dumas, in 1991; a son, Gerald "Gerry" Dumas, in 2007; and by six siblings: Judy Young, Alice Howatt, John, Julien, Lucien and Rolland Brunet. Cecile leaves behind her daughter, Annette Ponto of Syracuse; a sister, Noela Putnam of North Syracuse; her brother, Ray Brunet of Eastwood; six grandchildren: Jacquelynn Scrimale of Syracuse, Lynette Morey of Marcellus, Jerry Dumas of FL, David Kuss of NC, and Jacob and Matthew Kuss, both of Syracuse; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A funeral service will begin on Monday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
