- James E. Plouff, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his family. Jim was born on March 2, 1943 to the late Vernon and Margaret (Leiterman) Plouff. He graduated from East De Pere high school in 1962 and went on to join the US Air Force. He spent his four years as a plumber stationed in Great Falls, Montana. Throughout his career, he worked as a truck driver for various transportation companies. In October of 1981, Jim married Bonnie Mundt at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. In their free time, they enjoyed taking road trips together, always meeting new people and making new friends along the way. Jim also enjoyed spending time in the garden, planting flowers, taking care of the lawn, and driving his John Deere tractor and his new zero turn John Deere lawn mower.
Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children: James P. Plouff, Jacqueline (David) Ley, Scott Plouff (s.o. Peri), and Blake (Bonnie) Plouff; and grandchildren: Patrick and Parker Ley, Mary Davis, and Ellie Plouff. He is further survived by siblings: Elizabeth Hansen, Suzanne Piette (s.o. Ken), and John (Linda) Plouff; siblings-in-law: Darrell Mundt, Cindy (Joe) Thebert, Dale Mundt, Donald Mundt, and Gary Thielen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry (Julia) Mundt; sister-in-law, Carol Thielen; and his first wife, Patricia Burns-Plouff.
A memorial service in memory of Jim will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. 10th St., De Pere. There will be a time of visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Online condolence may be expressed at www.ryanfh.com.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the 9th floor doctors, nurses and CNAs at St. Vincent Hospital for their loving care and compassion for Jim.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jims name.
