Clair Kenneth Bolwerk passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. He was born at home in Combined Locks on January 16th, 1939 to Martin and Adrianna (Hurkman) Bolwerk. Clair married Nancy Minten on October 31, 1959 and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Clair was employed by Albany International for 40 plus years where he worked his way up to the position of Process Engineer. A well-deserved retirement gave Clair and Nancy time to enjoy many winters in Florida where they could walk on the beach and golf as much as they wanted.
Those who knew Clair knew that faith, family, and sports were important to him, but not necessarily in that order. Many great memories were made whenever family was gathered, especially during family wood cutting day, birthdays and holidays. The more babies that were there, the better! Clair also enjoyed cheering on his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. Kimberly athletics will have a tough time finding a fan more devoted than Clair, though in recent years he was known to wear Freedom or Kaukauna sports gear when necessary.
Clair leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy and children: Vicki and Mike Fischer and children Amanda (Sierra), Jonathon, Bridgette Bazant; Mike and Denise and children Ashley, Alex (fiancé Sara), and Shane; Dan and Cathy and children Kacie and Jason Weyenberg (Fallon), Mitchell and Becca (Paisley) and Brady; Brenda; Dave and Mary Jo and children Grant, Garrett (fiancé Lauren) and Grace.
Clair is survived by his brothers Joseph and Roger (Laureen), and sisters Mary Jo (Vern) Lamers and Julie VanHout and sisters-in-law Leah Bolwerk and Carmen Bolwerk. He is further survived by Nancy’s sister Joan Hammen and brother David (Carol) Minten and sister-in-law Janice Minten.
Clair is preceeded in death by his brothers Ted (Mary), Willard (Ginny), Gerald, and Jim, and in-laws Bill VanHout and Fran Bolwerk, Gene Minten, Jerry (Marilyn) Minten and Ron Hammen.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly. Visitation will take place from 9:00-11:00 am with Mass beginning at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations will go to Kimberly High School’s Gil Frank Memorial Scholarship. |
